During the Cretaceous period the
temperature dropped 2°C. This could be the reason why the dinosaurs died out.
The dinosaurs were adapted to the warmer climate and many of them were unable
to live with the new temperature. The organisms that were able to handle the
colder temperature (the turtles, sharks, etc.) were the ones that survived.
With the world now back to the same temperature that supported the dinosaurs,
it would be possible for the dinosaurs to live again if there was a way to
bring them back. This climate could support them but it’s impossible for a
species to return after it seizes to exist. The populations currently existing
here are the result of millions of years of evolution, continuing to become better
and better suited to their environments. They are now probably much better
suited to this environment than the dinosaurs would be so it makes no sense
that they would evolve into the dinosaurs. Another complication is that the
environment is still changing and it is possible that in the millions of years
that it would take for a species to evolve into dinosaurs, the climate would
change back to the temperature it was when the dinosaurs died off.
Based on the evidence we have discussed, we think that dinosaurs will not come again. If dinosaurs were to come back, they would have to evolve from their relatives, but we believe this would never happen because dinosaurs are not well suited to our industrualized world and they would be selected against. Although the temperature is going up again, the dinosaurs would not be able to survive and reproduce in the modern world.
